Network Manager


Responsible to the Director of Information Technology for the management, planning and production activities of the Company’s Network and PC environments including Telecommunications.

Responsible and Accountable for:

  • Develops and recommends short and long range plans for management of the network infrastructure, ensuring optimum usability and performance.
  •  Monitors the health of the network and servers to ensure maximum usability.
  • Plans and coordinates installation and upgrades of network software and hardware.
  • Manages network and IT Support staff to ensure timely resolution of all network related issues.
  • Implements methodologies and tools to ensure a high level of automation in reporting and resolving network issues.
  • Responsible for tracking and resolving data circuit bills, and working with vendors to achieve this in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for capacity planning of the network and associated bandwidth requirements, including support for videoconferencing. Mentors junior staff to improve their technical knowledge.
  • Maintains a close association with staff and users to ensure quality support.
  •  Also provides technical assistance as needed to other departments.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High level of working knowledge in Active Directory administration across a Wide Area Network (WAN).
  • Knowledge of the implementation and support of various administrative tools such as imaging, patch deployment, etc.
  • Knowledge of the implementation and support of collaborative work tools such as Exchange, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to perform low-level packet analysis of network data to diagnose problems and resolve them in an efficient manner.
  • Working knowledge of the installation and support of routers (especially Cisco), and management of the associated protocols.
  • Ability to analyze current processes and develop plans for implementation of new technology and/or processes.  Ability to develop comprehensive plans for disaster recovery, hardware and software deployment.  Ability to analyze security issues for the network infrastructure.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and test network upgrades, and ensure applications are in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ability to manage to budget and purchase new network equipment within approved guidelines and corporate standards.
  • Ability to successfully lead and motivate a staff in achieving organizational and support goals. This includes tracking the problems to completion and quality assurance.  Additionally, a candidate should have proven “people” skills and should be motivated by efforts to improve and care for Company’s staff.
  • Strong ability to manage time to meet the above goals in an effective manner.
  • Ability to understand and be aware of possible suspicious activities or transactions by members or by employees, directors, executives, or officers of the Company.  Promptly notify management as required by Company policy if unusual activity is observed which could be an indication of crime or efforts to evade reporting requirements.
  • Understanding of technical best practices and policies such as ITIL and PCI.

Education & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a related position or capacity.
